A New Year + The Truth You Don't Always Want To Hear

A New Year + The Truth You Don't Always Want To Hear

Everyone is in a daze due to the current social climate. The holidays are over + lots of money has been spent to bring smiles to your loved ones’ faces. Now the vacations are over + you enjoyed the sweet taste of rest "oh how glorious it is to just be". Then Boom 2026 hits + you're now face to face with everyone asking, “What’s your New Year’s resolution?”

I’m going to ask you something different.

What was placed on your heart + mind several months ago that you’ve been putting off? What are you now being reminded of—knowing how far things could’ve come along if only you got started when you were told the first time?

I’m not saying this to shame you… well, kinda—but it’s in a loving way. The way the elders used to tell you the hard stuff. Not to hurt you, but to make you better. They lived lives full of things we could only imagine + because of that, they can see things on our trail that we don’t see coming. So they speak up, hoping we don’t make the same mistakes they made when they, too, were young + in a daze.

If you’re now mentally replaying a recent fumble, don’t be so hard on yourself. The beauty in it all is that today is a new day, + so is tomorrow. It is a blessing. A present. The gift of life + opportunity that allows you to do today what you didn’t do yesterday—or, in this case, several months ago (Judge-free zone).

This is your gentle reminder, a hard nudge, to say: get to it.
No, you didn’t start when you first had the vision, but you’re alive today—so get to it. Don’t wait for the beginning of the year to initiate what you already know to be true. Don’t put it off until Monday to start doing the things you know you need to do to be a better version of yourself.

Start today. Start now + if that feels too soon, start when you wake up in the morning. If you fell off yesterday, know that it’s okay. Have some grace with yourself. Be kind to yourself. Be patient with yourself. Love yourself. Speak kindly to yourself. Above all be aware of your thoughts, because they have the power to assist or distract you from your goals.

Someone once told me, “You can’t buy muscle—you have to go to the gym + work out.” The same applies to you. The person you’re trying to grow into, the career + lifestyle you envision—it all takes commitment. Being the best version of you isn’t a one + done job. It’s a lifelong assignment that requires you to show up for yourself every single day.

Now with all of that being said, + regardless of when you read this, know that George + Loyse is here rooting you on + encouraging you to embrace your daily rituals. Because beneath the boredom of doing small things consistently is where change begins. This is where + when seeds start to take root so that they can blossom + present you with the fruits of your labor.
